31 Weeks and a Baby Shower

How Far Along: 31 weeks How Big is Baby: Head to toe, Grant is about 18 inches in length (near his birth length) and weighing in at an impressive 3+ pounds this week. Development: Grant’s brain is continuing to grow at a super fast rate and making trillions of connections.  And Grant is now able to put that complex web of brain connections to good use processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all five senses.  He is also becoming more of a sleepy baby, putting in longer stretches of snooze time, especially REM sleep, which is why he now has more defined awake and sleeping times. How huge is mama: Next weigh in is in 1 week.  Stay Tuned! Movement: Lots of rolls and elbow/knee jabs.  He seems to prefer being on the right side. Food: ICE!!  I know this is probably not that great for my teeth, but I love chewing ice. Belly Button: Just Barely holding on.  More like a halfie, because it is stretched straight. Preparations: Anxiously awaiting his furniture to arrive. Pregnancy Symptoms: Still the back pain and I get this numb/tingling feeling near the top portion of my abdomen which at times burns like my skin is on fire.  Gotta love that skin stretching. Milestones: We now are going every 2 weeks to the doctor’s office (since week 30), so that is a milestone meaning we are definitely nearing term…YIKES.  We also had our WPB shower this past weekend, which was so much fun.  We got to spend time with some great family and friends and it was such a blessing to see all of them come to honor our little man. Looking forward to Next: Viewing our professional pregnancy photos!
